Occupation: mommy

I quit my job! Now I get to hang out with Lennon all day, every day. I couldn't be happier. She's almost starting to make a daily routine for us, which will be nice.
We're both getting over colds, so in addition to the drool she also has a runny nose. She has some kind of liquid coming out of every possible body cavity.
Hand are now a really big deal. Looking at them, grabbing them, putting them in her mouth, and, the cutest, thumb sucking.
Tummy time is still a bit of an issue. But now she can go a few minutes with out crying and even lift her head up at a 90 degrees angle! We try every day.
Overall we're having a great time!

Happy Girl

Our happy girl is 2 months old now and has been doing some amazing things! She has found her hands, noticed her feet a couple of times, and is becoming quite a chatterbox, as you can see in this video of her talking to "the baby in the mirror". By far the most wonderful thing she has been doing is smiling when she sees Mommy or Daddy (or a bare booby).

The Girl Who Has Everything

The past few weeks we have been pretty busy introducing Lennon to some of her new friends and family. People have been asking what we still need for her. We have actually gotten everything she needs at this point. We have all the furniture, baby gear, outfits, bottles, and binkies that we can squeeze into this little house. However, the one thing that no little girl (or anyone else for that matter) can have too many of is books. I'm going to try to keep a running list of all the books in her library (look to the right of this post) so that if any of you ever want to bring her a present you will be able to pick one out that she doesn't have.

We also want to thank everyone for all the well-wishes, cards, and wonderful gifts. THANK YOU!!!

Our Little Girl Has Arrived!

Sorry I've taken so long to post this. We've been a little busy.

Here's our story:

On Monday (08/06) we ended up going to the hospital a little before noon. It turns out that I had progressed pretty well while hanging out at home, I was already 100% effaced and 5.5-6 cm dilated! Labor and delivery was super busy that day so I got to spend the first couple of hours laboring on a gurney in pre-op, but eventually I was moved to a big, comfy labor and delivery room.

I was so terrified to get an epidural that I waited until I was 7.5 cm and in tears during each contraction. Getting the epidural was extremely painful, but well worth it. I could see on the monitor that I was having contractions and I couldn't feel a thing, so we just hung out and waited.

At around 7:30 I was fully dilated and got the go ahead to start pushing which proved to be a bit difficult as I was still numb. After two hours the nurse said that they wanted to turn down the epidural so that I could have more productive pushes. It turns out that wasn't neccessary because at that point I started vomiting so furiously that I pushed the baby down. A few more pushes later and out she came at 9:31 pm.

8 pounds 6 ounces, 20 inches long, and insanely beautiful. She is perfect and we are completely in love.

OW!

It's 10am on Monday. I started having contractions at about midnight. I think we'll go to the hospital soon.

Still Waiting- 2 days past due

As of 10:30 Wednesday morning I am not dilated...at all. Not one little bit. I guess Lennon is just taking her sweet time. Maybe she's waiting for us to pick out her middle name. hmmm. The Dr. guesstimated that she is about 7.5 lbs now. She needs to either come out very soon or stop growing. ouchies.

Her new favorite hobby is stretching out as big as she can and pushing super hard with her head and every limb. A little uncomfortable for me.

I think I'm finally to the point where I'm ready to not have anyone living inside me. She has permission to come out now.

oopsies

During the past 8 1/2 months I have gained a total of 35 lbs. Not bad, the recommended weight gain is between 25 and 35 lbs, and many women gain MUCH more. My problem is that during the first 36 weeks I gained about 29 lbs (steadily, good for me!), and the last 2 weeks (since I've stopped working) I have gained 6 lbs (4 of which were in the last week). Maybe someone needs to lay off the ice cream and go on a few more walkies with her beagles.

I'm curious to see what the next couple of weeks have in store for me.

Full Term!

As of Tuesday 7/10 Lennon is officially full term. She should be developed enough that if she decided to make her escape now all would be well. However, I'm thinking that she should stay put for at least another couple of weeks.

It's A Full Moon

Oops, my mistake. It's just my belly, looking rounder than ever. Just one more month!

Yes, I'm aware that the scar from my ex-navel-piercing is most unattractive.

Grosser Than Gross

To go with the cloth dipes are the cloth wipes. Yes, it is like laundering used toilet paper. If we're going to be washing poopy diapers why not do the wipes too?

OK. The truth is that I just couldn't resist the super cutest, softest flannel at the fabric store.

Like the diapers, we'll just have to wait and see how it all works out.

Cloth is Cuter

This is just the beginning of our cloth diaper collection. I'm not sure why, but disposables were just never an option for me. Maybe after the first few loads of laundry I'll change my mind.
