Sorry I've taken so long to post this. We've been a little busy.
Here's our story:
On Monday (08/06) we ended up going to the hospital a little before noon. It turns out that I had progressed pretty well while hanging out at home, I was already 100% effaced and 5.5-6 cm dilated! Labor and delivery was super busy that day so I got to spend the first couple of hours laboring on a gurney in pre-op, but eventually I was moved to a big, comfy labor and delivery room.
I was so terrified to get an epidural that I waited until I was 7.5 cm and in tears during each contraction. Getting the epidural was extremely painful, but well worth it. I could see on the monitor that I was having contractions and I couldn't feel a thing, so we just hung out and waited.
At around 7:30 I was fully dilated and got the go ahead to start pushing which proved to be a bit difficult as I was still numb. After two hours the nurse said that they wanted to turn down the epidural so that I could have more productive pushes. It turns out that wasn't neccessary because at that point I started vomiting so furiously that I pushed the baby down. A few more pushes later and out she came at 9:31 pm.
8 pounds 6 ounces, 20 inches long, and insanely beautiful. She is perfect and we are completely in love.

wow! I have trouble picturing you all pushing and barfing and labor-y, not just because, well, gross, but also cause you're so chill. the idea of jessie sitting there chillin while the contractions are going make much more sense...
I bet that you and ian are just sitting around staring at her... and laughing at how ridiculously cute and perfect she is! congratulations!
thanks for the play by play- i can't believe that was a week ago! and now you have a little baby girl to play with and stay up all night with. post some pictures soon!!
ps- i was going to asked what "effaced" means but i decided i don't want to know.
